February 14, 2010 - February 18, 2010

This week we received very exciting news. Many of the students on our team have been accepted into the science fair! This year was amazing because there were more students accepted into science fair than ever before. As the weeks progress, there will be a large amount of effort focused onto preparing for the county science fair. Hopefully some of use from High Tech High will even go on to the state science fair.

We also took a visit down to the bay to examine how the water levels have risen. To the left is a photo of student Tony examining the bay along the shoreline.

Our class created presentations about genetics and various fields in today's society. Genetics affects many industries within biotechnology. It influences agriculture, the military, weapons, medicine, the pet industry, and many more things within our society. Our class created powerpoints discussing these various topics and presented them among our piers. This project showed our class that no matter what you want to be when you row up, biotechnology and an understanding of genetics can really influence your career.

We have begun discussing our newest project, the Children's Book Project. For this project, our class will be creating children's books which will inform youth about a variety of scientific topics. They will be totally written and illustrated by our class and hopefully even read at the elementary school across the street.

On Friday there was a test covering classical genetics, exceptions to Mendel's laws, and genetic diseases.

The Girl

I was kicked out of girl scouts at 7 due to my disorderly conduct. The brat who I punched recovered...I never did. My life is all about being disincluded of all those stupid clubs and what-not, only to find the only place I belong is doing something stupid for attention. With 3 brothers (ok fine Chris) 4 brothers, I have ended up somewhat disturbed. My general role in the family is comic-relief. I do whatever it takes to show deliberate transgression of rules. (Rules Don't apply in this house) I jump out of cars on to the freeway, climb on roofs, (Get off the roof), and to combine the two I climb on the roof of cars.

My legs are two giant scabs; my best friends are under three; I am...The Girl.

The Family

Well it has been an adventure. The total of the seven years I have spent with The Family have been like nothing else experienced in my years. Chris is the name, and this blog is one that brings up numerous thoughts on the matter; for one, it is near impossible to write a synopsis of The Family that brings its entire and complex persona to light. On the other hand, the legend must be released to the public to understand what I cope with and experience day in and day out.

My relationship to The Family is one that cannot be summed up in a sentence, or a paragraph, but none-the-less here goes nothin': I am the half-adopted son; I am always around but never fully realized, one who belongs but does not belong, and yet I tend to blend in as well as a wall flower (AD reference...don't worry about it...).

All in all I expect The Blog to turn out quite interesting, captivating, repulsive, shocking, and yet heart felt during its time alive.

What is The Blog?

The Blog is a collection of stories which have become world renown. These are tales which the bards shall sing for many millenia. Though the ages may pass, though The Blog may be forgotten, the epics contained within it shall live though all eternity, forever tantamount to the great works of humanity. Though you may deem the tales apocryphal, they are unreserved veracious accounts of sincere truth.

From humble beginnings, born of simple idea to author The Book, came The Blog. As the days turned to months, it became apparent that The Book would never come to fruition, and a smaller step must be taken before the behemoth undertaking of The Book should be approached. The Blog was spawned.
